Our gift to you these weekend, dear readers, is our fabulous fudgey chocolate sauce recipe. Pancakes are a weekend favourite in our house, and a dollop of this silky smooth rich topping over a stack of fluffy pancakes and berries sets you up nicely for a busy Sunday (who am I kidding, we never get as far as the berries).
Taking just two minutes to bang together with store cupboard ingredients, it is a great recipe to keep on the backburner for when you need something sweet; drizzle over a dull ice cream or pour over a chocolate sponge for a quick and luxurious pudding. I like to add a tablespoon of dark rum on a cold evening for a little grownup treat, but a spoonful also tastes amazing when stirred into hot milk for the kids!
Ingredients
150g dark chocolate
4 tbsp milk
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp golden syrup
pinch of salt
Method
Place all the ingredients in a small pan and place over a low to medium heat. Stir continually so the butter and chocolate melt to make a rich dark glossy sauce.
Serve warm, or store in the fridge for up to 5 days; it will thicken in the fridge but can either be gently re-warmed or eaten with a spoon in secret at 3am.
